(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.) -- Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy each shot an opening round even-par 70 at the Honda Classic on Thursday, putting them six shots back of leader Camilo Villegas.
The 37-year-old Woods began the day on the back nine by bogeying 10 and 13, but then made a late charge with a pair of birdies on 3 and 7.
“I played really well today,” Woods said. “I hit a lot of good shots, but I didn’t make anything. I hit just a ton of good putts that burned the edge and either the green didn’t take it or snagged it. I just really never made anything until number seven.”
The 14-time Major champion is looking for his second PGA Tour victory of the season.
