Three movies open Wednesday, November 21st, in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Here's a closer look:
* Rise of the Guardians -- A collection of popular children's characters, including Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy, use their superpowers -- yes, they have superpowers in this story -- to combat an evil spirit called Pitch. Chris Pine, Hugh Jackman, Jude Law, Alec Baldwin and Isla Fisher lend their voices to the animated flick, which is screening in 3D. Rated PG.
* Red Dawn -- In the remake of the 1984 Patrick Swayze film, a group of young people in Washington state calling themselves the Wolverines go to battle against foreign invaders. Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki, Isabel Lucas, Connor Cruise and Jeffrey Dean Morgan star. Rated PG-13.
* Life of Pi -- After he's involved in a shipwreck, an Indian boy is stranded in the Pacific Ocean with a Bengal tiger and a few other animals. The film was helmed by Brokeback Mountain director Ang Lee. Rated PG.
