In a new interview with Billboard, Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron revealed that while the band’s long-awaited final album is “over halfway done,” it is unlikely to be released before their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction on November 8, where they plan on performing. Cameron, who joined Soundgarden in 1986 and recently departed from Pearl Jam, reflected on the significance of being inducted with both bands. “They’re both huge honors, of course,” he says. “For me, personally, I helped build Soundgarden from the ground up, and I helped create the sound. So in that sense (Soundgarden’s induction) is a little more meaningful for me as an artist and musician and songwriter to go in with a band that I helped (to) establish itself.” As to Cameron’s exit from Pearl Jam, he says it was an amicable break. “I definitely gave them a lot of notice,” he says, while admitting. “I was having some issues with (Pearl Jam’s) three-hour shows and constant touring and stuff.” (Billboard)
